Determining lid size:

Tech II has numerous stock sizes to fit your needs. We would also be pleased to create
a custom lid specifically for your project. With a few basic steps, you can help
determine which lid will work best for you.

Equipment: Calipers capable of .001 inch measurements

1) Measure the width (top) of the overcap (lid), cup, or container.

2) Rotate the overcap or container 90° and take a second measurement.
3) Calculate the average of the two measurements.
4) The answer (from step 3) equals the outside diameter.
5) The outside diameter is the most important dimension in determining size.

(Measurement 1 + Measurement 2) / 2 = Average outside DIA
Outside DIA Outside DIA 90°

Many containers and canisters have a bead (lip) onto which the overcap must fit.

Measure the bead height using the steps outlined above (again, rotate 90°)
(Measurement 1 + Measurement 2) / 2 = Average Bead
Bead Bead 90°

For best results, choose 6 containers at random and calculate the average dimensions of all 6.
